Classroom Close-up, NJ is a magazine program focusing on innovative projects happening in New Jersey public schools. This 30-minute weekly series features the students, teachers, school staff and communities who create and participate in successful school projects and events. Now in its 19th season, Classroom Close-up, NJ has won 11 Emmys and is currently airing on NJTV on Sundays 7:30 a.m., 12:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays 11:30 p.m. Saturdays 5:30 a.m. Where to watch The show is sponsored by PSE&G.

Premptions in September during NJTV station fundraising

On Sept. 24 the 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. broadcast of Classroom Close-up, NJ on NJTV will be pre-empted due to station fundraising drives. But you can see the show that same day at 7:30 a.m. This show is a rebroadcast featuring the NJ Poetry Festival, Camp Mason, Global Exploration and Breaking the Chain.  That same show can be seen on Wednesday Sept. 25 at 11:30 p.m. and Saturday Sept. 30 at 5:30 a.m.

Attention Media Production Educators:

Classroom Close-up, NJ will be featuring student productions as a new segment in the show. Please submit videos for consideration to kcoulibaly@njea.org. Appropriate approvals from administers and each individual involved in the taping must be obtained prior to submission.

NJEA Members interviewed on NJTV

Five NJEA members will be featured on Steve Adubato's One-on-One show in March and April.  Carlene Anderson a Paterson educator, John McAllen from Point Pleasant Borough, along with Kristine Tesoriero from Upper Saddle River, Patricia Harris from Newark and Linda Szypula from Egg Harbor Township.  See more

Remembering Kate Megargee, Classroom Close-up Producer

On March 22, Classroom Close-up lost one of our devoted producers, Kate Megargee. Kate worked on the show for 15 years, producing about 285 segments.  She won seven New York and Mid Atlantic Emmys, six of them for Classroom Close-up.
On her website she wrote: "I believe my work helps people. Information is powerful and what I do is tell stories that inform. And entertain. And give hope. Sometimes, I make people laugh. And every day, there’s a new story to tell."
Kate told the stories of NJEA members and their students with compassion and commitment. She will be missed.
A Hipp Grant will be named in her honor for projects focusing on journalism, media production and writing.
