2016-17 NJSEA Executive Board

Ellen Bacon
President

Ellen Bacon

I am a secondary special education major at Seton Hall University. I am pursuing my second degree in history with a minor in Spanish. I remain involved on my campus as the co-president of the NJSEA chapter there. I am honored to be serving as the 2016-2017 president for this wonderful organization, which has granted me countless opportunities both personally and professionally. I was humbled to represent New Jersey as a delegate to the Student Leadership Conference and the Representative Assembly in Washington, D.C. to gain experience with the organization on the national level. I look forward to working hard with New Jersey state members throughout the year to promote opportunities like these and our more local events, like the NJEA Convention and our Leadership Matters Student Conference, so more pre-service teachers can share in the awesome benefits of the NJSEA.

I am a junior at The College of New Jersey majoring in deaf and hard of hearing in elementary education and women’s and gender studies. In addition to being secretary for NJSEA, I am treasurer for my local chapter. I also serve as a student representative on the National Education Association Resolutions Committee. I have attended the NJEA Convention the past two years, the Teacher Leadership summit in Dallas, TX, and the NEA-SP Summer Leadership Conference. In my free time I like to tutor, play basketball and spend time with family and friends.
