Public pension and health care analysis and advocacy
NJEA announces an opening for an associate director in the Research and Economic Services Division.
The responsibilities of this position include advocating for the protection and improvement of pension and health care benefits for New Jersey public school employees; researching and analyzing benefit trends and legislation; writing reports, fact sheets, and public testimony; developing and delivering training programs; analyzing health benefit provisions in public-sector collective bargaining agreements and providing expert advice, consultation, and testimony related to negotiating health benefit provisions. General policy analysis on other areas of interest to NJEA may also be required.
The position requires extensive travel within New Jersey and frequent evening and weekend responsibilities.
Candidates should possess advanced training and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas: labor relations, political science, policy analysis, analytical research, financial analysis, collective bargaining, and employee benefits. Demonstrated skill at analyzing complex issues and explaining them in simple terms is important. Advanced verbal, writing, and computer skills are essential.
