Current Legislation - Jan. 24, 2011
Confidentiality Standards for Public Assistance Programs: A-1068 (Gusciora, Coughlin) was released from the Assembly Labor Committee (8-0) and is now ready for a full Assembly floor vote. The bill, initiated by NJEA, would conform to Federal law by requiring confidentiality standards for public employees who may require employee assistance programs. The legislation would only allow for exceptions should the employee sign a waiver statement or under certain conditions stipulated by the employee assistance program advisor.
“Teen Sexting”: A-1561 (Lampitt). This legislation, which creates a diversionary program for juveniles who are criminally charged for “sexting” or posting sexual images, was unanimously reported out of the Assembly Judiciary Committee with amendments. The bill now moves to the full Assembly for consideration. NJEA supports this legislation.
