MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE:  SCR1 (Sweeney) was released from the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee today by a vote of 7-6.  This constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, would amend the constitution to increase the minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $8.25 per hour and allow for annual adjustments based upon the Consumer Price Index (CPI).  NJEA testified in support of this bill.  The bill has been second referenced to the Senate Labor Committee.
