ESEA - No Child Left Behind

The 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) was renewed by Congress and signed into law January 8, 2002. The main provisions of the law focus on academic improvement, annual testing, teacher and paraprofessional quality, and other academic programs. NJEA continues to work closely with the Department of Education, the governor’s office, and the Legislature on ensuring that New Jersey’s public schools are in compliance with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
