Making an OPRA request
New Jersey's Open Public Records Act (OPRA) allows you to obtain information on request (which can be anonymous) for audits, minutes of closed session meetings, settlement agreements of civil law suits, and other materials.
Consult WEC's Fact Sheet, “New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act (OPRA),” October 2011, www.njwec.org/PDF/FactSheet_OPRA.pdf .

For these NJEA publications, go to njea.org, click on Issues and Actions, Health and Safety, then Publications:
- “Organizing for Better Indoor Air Quality,” has useful sections on mold, ventilation, and other issues.
- The “Health and Safety Facts” brochure overviews the make-up and functioning of an HSC, and includes useful information on using PEOSH.
Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health (PEOSH) may be useful, if you think your school is out of compliance with PEOSH laws. Consult the PEOSH website for laws and PEOSH procedures at www.nj.gov/health/peosh.
The New Jersey Work Environment Council (WEC), a frequent partner with NJEA, can provide technical assistance, including a review of walk-through and sampling results. You and your UniServ field representative can call 609-695-7100, e-mail email@example.com, or visit the website, www.njwec.org.
