Supports Take a Veteran to School Day

NJEA is proud to support AR42 (Milam).  This resolution would encourage school districts to participate in “Take a Veteran to School Day,” a national program developed by the History Channel.

The event offers an opportunity for schools to invite veterans to share their experiences and receive thanks for their service to the country.  It would provide students with the chance to understand the meaning of Veteran’s Day and the importance of honoring the bravery and sacrifice of all veterans.

NJEA embraces the genuine ‘teachable’ moment that “Take a Veteran to School Day” can offer students, the community and our veterans.  The heroes from the pages of the history book will come to life.  With the rigorous standards our students face every day, NJEA recognizes there is no greater lesson than the one that is shared from a life experience.

John Maxwell Edmonds once said, “When you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow we gave our today.”  AR42 will promote the sharing of the stories of our courageous veterans.

NJEA supports this resolution and asks that you vote yes.
