AR-74

Designates month of February 2014 as “Career and Technical Education Month” in New Jersey.

NJEA supports AR-74 (Prieto, Diegnan, Coughlin, Jimenez).  This resolution designates February 2014 as Career and Technical Education month in New Jersey.  Career and technical education plays an important role, providing educational, economic, and societal benefits to the state of New Jersey.

Career and technical education programs (CTE) prepare students for both college and careers.  CTE programs give high school students the opportunity to explore multiple career pathways and help maintain New Jersey’s highly skilled workforce.  CTE can also help train those individuals who are changing career paths.

February has long been recognized as Career and Technical Education Month by national associations, such as the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).  Recognizing the month of February as Career and Technical Education month will highlight New Jersey’s CTE programs.  NJEA supports this resolution.
