NJEA and public education have been targets of Gov. Christie since he took office in January, and his attacks are only intensifying.
In coming weeks, we will continue to fight his so-called “tool kit,” which is nothing more than an attempt to take away school employees’ collective bargaining rights. At the same time, we anticipate a renewed attempt by the governor to reduce or take away pensions and benefits from many members, including current retirees.
NJEA is prepared to fight these attacks on every front, including with aggressive legal action where possible.
Member engagement will be critical in this fight for the future of our schools and our profession. In order to communicate and engage members quickly, NJEA’s local associations are creating Member Action Centers (MACs) at every worksite in the state. Each MAC will be stocked with information about current challenges and strategies for engaging members in the fight.
All of the materials for use in the MACs are available here.
