Don’t miss the vote!
Tuesday, Nov. 6 is Election Day and the polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. On the national and state levels, New Jerseyans will be voting for president, senator and members of Congress. There are also two special elections in State Assembly Districts.
If you have changed your address or your name by marriage, divorce or by decree, you must complete a registration form.
You can register at the county commissioner of superintendent of registration’s office, the local municipal clerk’s office in your town/city hall, or at a state motor vehicles facility.
Registration can also be completed by mail. A registration form can be downloaded from www.njelections.org or you can contact the Division of Elections at 609-292-3760.
The registration deadline for the Nov. 6 election is Tuesday, Oct. 16.
Voters should be aware that they have the option, for any reason, to vote by mail (VBM) through Election Day. The county clerk must receive the VBM application by Tuesday, Oct. 30; otherwise you must pick one up at the county clerk’s office by 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5.
A VBM form can also be found at www.elections.org. Once the county clerk has processed a VBM application, you will receive a ballot in the mail to complete and return. Voting by absentee ballot is just as valid as going to the polls.
Voters also have the option of indicating if they want to receive a mail-in ballot for future November general elections until they request otherwise.
See the Elections page for more information.
