The Department of Secondary and Special Education at Montclair State University is holding its second annual Positive Practices in Special Education Conference on Response to Intervention from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4. The first event last spring was a huge success. Over 200 educators (general and special education teachers, administrators, LDT-Cs, school psychologists, etc.) from every county in New Jersey attended and provided positive feedback and requests for more workshops on this topic.
This second annual conference will extend content provided at last year’s event. New and repeat attendees are invited to participate in teams of administrators, general educators, special educators, and specialists. Content will be directed towards all educators working to support student academic, behavioral, and social emotional outcomes. This conference will provide up-to-date research, assessment, and intervention strategies related to Response to Intervention approaches for service delivery across general and special education.
Last year, an introduction to RtI was provided. This year, offerings are expanded to include topics for a range of implementers from novice to advanced. The day will begin with a keynote speaker and end with targeted breakout sessions on a variety of topics including RtI in Secondary schools, Working with Parents, Legal Issues within RtI, and many more.
