NJEA Vice President Marie Blistan testified today at the School Development Authority (SDA) Board meeting, urging immediate action be taken to repair and modernize some of the state’s neediest schools.
“I urge this board to vote for immediate action on Trenton Central High School,” said Blistan. “I represent more than Trenton Central, and I ask you to give the same due diligence to other schools in Trenton, Irvington, Orange, Paterson, Bridgeton, Camden, Vineland, Hoboken, Gloucester City, Jersey City, and other districts whose students are also in need of your attention.”
At the meeting the SDA approved $130.5 million for a new high school in Trenton. NJEA had worked in coalition with other community groups to highlight unsafe conditions at Trenton Central High School and in other schools around the state.
