Nearly 50,000 NJEA members from across the state attended the 154th annual NJEA Convention November 6-7, in Atlantic City.

Recognized as the largest educational gathering of its kind anywhere in the world, the NJEA Convention draws teachers and educational support professionals who participate in over 300 seminars, workshops, and programs.

Thursday's highlights included a presentation by State Education Commissioner Lucille Davy, a keynote address by actor and activist Cynthia Nixon, as well as an evening concert by the All-State Jazz Ensemble. New this year is the Technology Integration Showcase where NJEA members from districts across the state present one-on-one demonstrations of technology activities tested in their own classrooms. Friday's closing activities include the Celebration of Excellence, a State Board of Education meeting, and a concert by the All-State Chorus and Orchestra.

In addition to the seminars and programs designed to meet members’ state-mandated, 100-hour professional development requirement, convention-goers take advantage of the Convention Center’s huge exhibit area, featuring more than 700 vendors and exhibitors.

The New Jersey Education Association is the state’s largest association of education professionals, representing 200,000 elementary and secondary teachers, administrators, higher education faculty, education support professionals, retired educators, and students preparing to become teachers.
