Openly state the problem or concern.

Gather information.

  • Provide specifics that exemplify the problem or concern.
  • Allow time for responses.
Determine the causes and effects of the problem or concern.

Propose solutions - make a list of as many alternatives as possible.

  • Discuss solutions.
  • Evaluate the merits of each alternative.
  • Rank the alternatives from best to worst.

Decide on a solution or a series of solutions.

  • Choose a solution which has potential success.
  • Choose a solution what you can actually implement, not someone else.

Plan action steps.

  • List steps for implementing solution(s).
  • Plan specific steps that each can take.
