Students can honor school heroes
The Trenton Thunder professional baseball team and the New Jersey Education Association are sponsoring a student essay contest open to all New Jersey public school students. The topic of the contest is “My hero works at school.” Students are encouraged to write a short, but thoughtful essay about a school employee that has positively impacted them. Essays should be no more than 250 words. Three winners will be selected. Each winning student, the school employee he or she writes about, and a total of eight of their family members and friends will be guests of NJEA and the Trenton Thunder at the Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, Thunder home game (NJEA Back-to-School game). Don’t miss NJEA nights with the Thunder
The Trenton Thunder – the AA-affiliate of the New York Yankees – are saluting NJEA members and the important work they do in New Jersey’s public schools. Two NJEA nights have already passed. Don't miss the final game on Thursday, August 22 at 7:05 p.m., the Thunder will face the Portland Sea Dogs on NJEA Member Appreciation Night. This is also the annual NJEA Trenton Thunder Back-to-School Game. NJEA and Thunder 106 have partnered to celebrate the amazing work NJEA members in Monmouth and Ocean counties are doing in New Jersey’s public schools.
