This topic came up a few times during sessions at summer leadership. The consensus seemed to be:
-- Personally ask members to get involved. When members are approached one-on-one, the chances of them getting involved in association leadership roles, committees, activities, events, workshops, etc. improves dramatically.
-- Don't forget to use word of mouth when marketing your activities to your members.
-- Consider how you can make such requests relevant. Members are more likely to get involved if they feel they will make a difference and/or see the benefits of their involvement.
-- Target your requests to members whose skills, qualities, personality, etc. apply. Ask the right member to do the job that is right for them!
