Local leaders: please see the information below and send the names of some of your Sparks my way! Attached are two fliers that you can use to generate interest in the program.
Jim NJEA Sparks is catching fire again!
In 2005-06, NJEA launched a pilot Sparks program to identify highly motivated, energized, and talented future leaders for the Association. Since then, the program has exceeded our wildest expectations with some 200 members participating—including 18 members in the 2012—2013 school year. After participating in a unique training/orientation program, our Sparks have gone back to their locals and gotten involved—as officers, committee chairs, and activists. Others jumped right into county and statewide NJEA involvement. One former Spark has even become an NJEA field rep! What we saw in these Sparks was potential, and the Sparks program helped them to realize it. We are looking for potential Sparks!
We are asking NJEA staff, leaders, and members to identify potential Sparks for the class of 2014. Specifically, we are looking for members who are:
35 and under
Six or less years of experience
Sparks are easily recognizable. They have that little extra “something”—that “spark” that ignites everyone around them. When you discover one, you’ll think, “Wow! I would love to bottle his/her energy and enthusiasm and get this person more involved in the Association.” You’ll recognize “Sparks” by
the way they interact with their colleagues, approach their work, and/or just stand out in a crowd with their positive attitude and inquisitive nature. How to submit nominations
Nominating a Spark is easy. Just send an email to email@example.com
with the potential Spark’s name and local, how you met, and why you think the person is a Spark.
We’ll send each nomination a survey packet to determine his/her level of interest and availability. One Sparks event is planned for April 4—6 2014, so please submit your nominations by January 15th. PD hours will be awarded to participants following the event.
