146. Host a "Party with a Purpose."
Throughout the ideas posted here is a running theme that membership meetings, events, and activities should be informative yet fun. Even at an event that seems purely social, anytime members get together, they undoubtably discuss work.
We met a local president recently who refers to each association sponsored social activity as a "party with a purpose." The local president says:
"Any time we get our members together, we try to cultivate the fun through our choice of location, agenda, etc. However, we make sure that we present our members with a cause to get behind -- whether it be something new or support for an ongoing initiative. The locations that we chose often bring people out, but they stay for the causes and continue to be involved."
I liked how the president said this, so I wanted to post it here.
