There is a new company located in central New Jersey, POINT:SAFETY Education, that is providing teachers and administrators with an interesting professional development opportunity. I attended the most recent seminar and it was very informative. I have included some details below from their facebook page.

Point:Safety™ seeks to fill a void in education and training that currently exists in schools across the country. Over the past 15 years, Pre-K schools to Colleges and Universities, public and private, have experienced firearms-related tragedies and are in need of positive solutions.

Point:Safety™ presents a pro-active and re-active education and training program that properly and effectively prepares teachers and school personnel to react and deal with firearms and other violent threats that may occur within the school environment.

Point:Safety™’s teaching objective is to familiarize every teacher with the ARM™ system, allowing them to Asses, React, and Manage firearms and other threats through education, demonstrations, interactive training and practical exercises.

Point:Safety™’s training process is custom-tailored from the instructors’ training and experiences in Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) training, Hostage Negotiations, Defensive Tactics, and Firearms Training.
