We got this idea from one of our UniServ field reps, whose children attend an elementary school in South Orange, NJ. Every year at the conclusion of the 5th grade moving up ceremony, the students walk through the school from their fifth grade wing all the way down to the school's kindergarten wing. As the students walk this route, classes of students line the halls and clap for the graduates.
Students end the ceremony by walking out the same door that they came in for kindergarten. Outside, parents are waiting, many of whom are very emotional by the scene.
PRIDE can fund refreshments for the parents, certificates for the graduating students, and even "clappers" for others to help celebrate this special day.
