TRANSITION FAIR

The Transition Fair is a community activity that invites classified students and their parents to learn about agencies and support available for special education students upon graduation and aging out of high school. The association will set up a voter registration table. The association will provide a customized pen to the parents who stop by the table and provide contact information. The information will be added to the database and be used to follow up with a thank you email for attending the event as well as to invite them to future events.

SCIENCE FAIR

The association will invite local scientists and business men and woman to be judges at the annual Science Fair. AEA will set up a table with the banner to collect contact information from the guests to use to invite them to future events and communicate regarding the school budget and distribute fliers to the guests with the “Great Things Happening with Anytown Education Association.” Voter registration forms will also be available. AEA will present winners with medals and ribbons. Light refreshments will be provided to the invited judges

READ ACROSS AMERICA

The association will invite families to attend an evening of readings of original Seuss inspired stories and poems written by the middle school students. The association will have a voter registration table with their banner displayed. Contact information will be added to the database. A thank-you letter with the association’s full name will be given along with a magnet for attending the event and providing contact information.

COMMUNITY CLEAN UP—GO GREEN

The association will invite community members to help clean up the school grounds in celebration of Earth Day. The invitation will state the full association’s name as well as on the thank-you card. There will be a data collection sheet for addresses and emails on the day of the event. The banner will be at the welcoming spot that has water and a complimentary eco-sticky pad after they sign in. Pictures will be taken for the local paper and submitted from the association.

GRANDPAPRENTS CRAFT AND TEA

The association will assist with grandparent activities at each building as a craft is done with the grandparent and grandchildren. A welcoming association banner will be placed in each building along with a sign-in sheet to get addresses (database for each building) to send thank-you notes from the association. The table will have some pictures of past PRIDE events, and a brochure about the association. The association’s full name will be used on all materials.

TOYS FOR TOTS

The association will create a flier to promote a “Toys for Tots” campaign within the district. With the help of the community, the association will collect toys for those in need. Pictures of donated toys will be taken for the newspaper. The flier will have the association’s full name on it and an association banner will be displayed at the drop-off site. Thank-you cards from the association will be given to each person who drops off a toy. The association website will have information about the event. Pictures will be submitted to the local newspaper using the association’s full name as the sponsor of the event.

READ ACROSS AMERICA

The association will promote reading in honor of Dr. Seuss by sponsoring an evening event that includes “breakfast” of green pancakes for dinner, reading books, Seuss trivia and games for the families. The association works along with the Home and School Association who will bring the paper plates and utensils. Association members donate pancake items as a “payment” for a dress-down day. The banner will be displayed and the association’s full name along with the HAS will be printed on all invitations and thank-you cards.

FAMILY BINGO NIGHT

The association participates in the district’s Family Bingo Night, which is open to parents, students, and other community members. The association will set up a reception table displaying the association banner. Upon entering, participants will sign in and receive an association handout highlighting the good things that the association is doing in the school community. The NJEA brochures, “How to Help Your Child Learn More,” “Studying More Productively,” “Your Child’s Education from A to Z,” and “Academics and Activities” will be distributed. Each brochure will have an attached label, “Compliments of the Anytown Education Association.” Voter registration forms will be available for distribution.

Participants who sign in will receive an association PRIDE promotional item (star magnetic clip). The contact information collection (name, address, phone, email) will be compiled in a database identified as school supporters. This contact information will be used for future GOTV activities.

HIGH SCHOOL FALL SPORTS BANQUET

The association will set up a table at the Awards Banquet for Fall Sports. A sign-in sheet will be available for parents to provide contact information (address, phone, email) to increase the association’s database. Brochures explaining the sports program and the benefits of athletics will be handed out along with NJEA Tips Brochures (Academics and Activities, Paying for College). Websites will be provided listing sites where parents can look for college scholarships for their child. A promotional item will be handed out to those who sign up. The association banner will be on display and the full association name will be used on all materials. Voter registration and absentee ballot forms will also be available.

WINTER CONCERTS

There are four winter concerts for the various schools. The association will produce a brochure for the parents with the full association name and individual schools’ names that explains how important the arts are for preparing students for college and careers. A table will be set up at each of the school s and a banner will be displayed. A sign-in sheet will be on the table for parents to complete which will add to the association’s database. Articles on how music ad art enhances academic performance will be distributed along with the fine arts brochures. A promo item will be given to the parents after they sign up. College scholarship websites will also be made available. Voter registration and absentee ballot forms will also be available.
