GOTV TARGETED EVENT—INTERGENRATIONAL DANCE
The association will host an intergenerational dance drawing parents, grandparents, and students. This goodwill event will garner support from parents and will be a fabulous opportunity for association members to speak to parents about the impact of budget cuts this school year and the importance of passing the budget this April.
An association reception table will be set up at the entrance of the dance event displaying the association banner. Participants will be asked to sign in to receive their PRIDE gift (association name imprinted grocery tote). The contact information collected will be compiled into a database of identified supporters that will be used for GOTV activities such as mailers and voter reminder phone calls.
Included in each tote will are informational brochures developed by the association on:
1. The current budget crisis (citing specific examples of the negative impact that budget cuts have had on the students this school year).
2. The importance of passing the budget and a reminder of the date and times of this year’s school election as well as locations of election polling sites.
3. The good things being done by association members in the school community and the importance of schools and community working together to achieve great public schools for every child; encouraging supporters of public education to vote in this year’s school elections.
All handouts will have the association’s name affixed. The refreshment table will display the Association banner.
Throughout the evening, association members will mingle and have personal conversations with parents regarding the information contained in the handouts.
