Did you know that NJEA's Emmy awarding winning television program, Classroom Close-Up NJ, has a searchable database? I typed in "PRIDE," and here's what came up. Check these videos out for ideas for your local's PRIDE program!

Dewey Who

Seaview Elementary third graders are learning the Dewey decimal system with their dads during an evening event sponsored by an NJEA PRIDE in Education Grant. The Linwood program encourages dads to read to their children, who learn more about libraries by competing in a scavenger hunt to find books.

Forensic Night

Seventh graders from Jefferson Township Middle school will team up with third graders to determine who borrowed the teddy bear. The older students will teach the younger students the science of forensic to help solve the mystery. This project is made possible through an NJEA Pride Grant.

Veteran‘s Day

Students at Riverton School (Burlington County) honor the veterans with an annual Veterans Day Assembly. They perform patriotic music and written work. Thanks to an NJEA Pride in Public Education grant, they also provide lunch for about 50 guests.

Poetry Festival

Crowds pack into schools for sports events, but imagine a large audience in an urban city listening to poetry. Sally Hughes, a published poet and school secretary at EHS Edison House, decided four years ago that students in Elizabeth have the talent and the desire to compete in a poetry festival. The fourth annual poetry festival was made possible through a Pride Grant from the Elizabeth Education Association. Winner of the Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award: Outstanding Public Affairs Series.

Culinary Arts

Featured in this show is an award-winning culinary arts program from Atlantic Community College in Atlantic City. Students operate a restaurant located at the college - doing everything from food preparation to decorations. The students also prepared dinner for 300 people during the NJEA Convention, highlighting their talents as part of the Pride in Public Education Campaign.
