ORIGINAL SUBMISSION—Funding request for Magic Stadium Cups.

AEA is sponsoring the Harlem Wizards to come and play. Our team will consist of students, teachers, and community members, and teachers from sending districts. We will also have two contests to win free tickets: #1 – elementary students will write an essay about how they show PRIDE in their school/community; #2 – high school students will design a t-shirt for our team to play.

RESUBMISSION—Funding request for Magic Stadium Cups.

For the second activity, the association will be hosting the Harlem Wizards. This professional basketball team will play a team comprised of community members, AEA members, faculty from the sending districts, and students. The Wizards will be visiting our school and the elementary schools in the area prior to the event to promote good eating habits, good fitness habits, etc.

At this event, the association will be selling concessions. In addition, we will hand out a flyer with our full association name with tips to develop good eating habits, a fitness program, and an overall healthy lifestyle. We will also have a “Fitness Pledge” that asks parents to pledge their commitment to improve their child’s health. Parents will be asked to sign the pledge and provide an email address where we can send them information on future events and other community information. We will use these email addresses as part of our growing database. We would like to hand out a promo item, specifically the plastic cup, to community members who sign the pledge.
