NJEA Convention

The 2013 NJEA Convention will be held Nov. 7-8, at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The NJEA Convention draws tens of thousands of members from around the state who experience hundreds of workshops, a massive exhibit floor, and an ever-expanding High Tech Hall, which provide rich opportunities for teachers and educational support professionals to grow professionally. It is one of the largest educational gatherings of its kind in the world.

    Back by popular demand, Dr. Marcia L. Tate will speak on brain-based learning. Tate is founder of Developing Minds Inc.,  an international educational consulting firm. The former executive director of professional development for the DeKalb County School System in Decatur, Georgia, also worked as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, language arts coordinator and is the author of numerous books, including the best-seller Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites: 20 Instructional Strategies that Engage the Brain.

    Chris LehmannChris Lehmann is the founding principal of the Science Leadership Academy, a progressive science and technology high school in Philadelphia. The Science Leadership Academy is an inquiry-driven, project-based, 1:1 laptop school that is considered to be one of the pioneers of the School 2.0 movement nationally and internationally. In June 2010, the former English teacher and basketball coach was named as one of the “30 Most Influential People in EdTech” by Technology & Learning Magazine.

    NJEA has blocked out hotel rooms at a reduced rate during the NJEA Convention. Not only will you find great rates, but free shuttle service to and from the convention center is available only from these hotels.     Accent on Children's Arrangements, Inc.Child care available at Convention

    NJEA has again enlisted the services of ACCENT on Children’s Arrangements to offer NJEA members attending the Convention low-cost child care. ACCENT is the official child care provider at the NEA Representative Assembly and has over 20 years of experience providing child care at conventions and other large-scale events. The cost is $20 per child, per day. Parents and guardians have the option of providing lunch or ordering lunch through ACCENT for an additional fee. Space is limited, so sign in and register early!
