Technology Workshop for Professional Teachers: Designing a Makerspace Curriculum


Description:  Teachers of children grades K-8 are invited to attend “Designing a Makerspace Curriculum” being held July 28- August 1 at the Dwight-Englewood School, Taub Technology Center. Participants will explore how the teaching of technology can interact with the physical world, how to develop curricula around problem solving as well as other critical skills, and how to maximize on resources that give students a deep immersion with technology. The workshop is being facilitated by Trevor Shaw, Director of Academic Technology at Dwight-Englewood Schools, with an emphasis on hands-on learning using technology, much reflecting how teachers might approach such a class with their own students.  Participants will gain skills in developing Project Based learning as well as being introduced to new teaching technologies.

Laptops are required for the course, but may be provided upon request. A certificate for ten professional development hours will be distributed upon completion of the workshop.
