Global Project-Based Learning
Foreign Language Educators of New Jersey (FLENJ) is presenting Global Project-Based Learning on Friday Feb. 28, 2014, at the PSE&G Conference Center in Edison. World language educators are invited to attend the full-day workshop to develop a heightened understanding of student-centered learning through the G-PBL instructional model and exemplars provided. Educators will increase their understanding of why G-PBL is a valuable model for world language instruction at all proficiency levels and create tasks that embrace the G-PBL model for use in their classrooms.
Janis Jenson, director of the Kean University Global School of Education and Innovation, will present units of study that integrate global competence with project-based world languages teaching and learning. The skills align with the New Jersey Common Core Standards for grades 6-12 literacy in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects. The projects integrate technology in ways that provide opportunities for students to connect with the culture and people in the target language communities and to use technology resources to create original content.
