The National Writing Project at Rutgers Institute for Professional Writing

The National Writing Project (NWP) at Rutgers University will host the Institute for Professional Writing three-day program, July 22-24, in New Brunswick.

This institute is designed for educators (classroom teachers and administrators) who have a professional writing goal in mind. Over the course of this three-day program, participants will engage in thoughtful discussion of the aspects of professional articles, share drafts in progress, learn tips and techniques for editing, incorporating research, and writing queries, and learn from those who have been successful with their publication endeavors. In addition to receiving 15 professional development hours, participants will give and receive virtual and in-person feedback as they continue their work in progress. The institute is open to educators from every discipline and grade level.

The Institute for Professional Writing employs a model that has proven particularly successful in supporting teachers in writing about their practice; articles from three of the 11 participants enrolled in the last institute were published in peer-reviewed professional journals.
