Preparing 21st-Century Science Lessons – The 5 Es of Excitement
On Saturday, Feb. 9, early educators are invited to attend the Junior League of Greater Princeton’s ROCKETS Initiative and the New Jersey Science Teachers Association seminar “Preparing 21st Century Science Lessons – The Five Es of Excitement.” The conference will be held at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.
ROCKETS, Raising Our Children’s Knowledge by Educating Through Science, is a theme-based, early literacy program focusing on improving the math and science skills of preschool children. Attendees will experience a way to enhance 21st-century science teaching in the preschool through grade two classroom based on making real world connections with old school content in accordance with the “five Es” approach – engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate.
Linda Burroughs and Nancy Evans Bennett, two highly accomplished educators, will be the featured speakers. Burroughs is an assistant professor of elementary and early childhood education at The College of New Jersey. Bennett, a retired science teacher, is co-chair of the New Jersey Science Convention and adjunct professor at the College of St. Elizabeth.
