Global Learning Inc. invites teachers of grades K-5 to attend the STEM Summer Teaching Institute, July 15-17, at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park. The institute introduces and explores STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) concepts against a background of educational best practices and takes an environmental approach to learning.
The Summer Teaching Institute is a series of classroom sessions and workshops where teachers become the students. Teachers will learn to collaborate, create, think critically and innovate while thinking about instruction and learning. Teachers will gain an understanding of, and further identify what STEM looks like in the classroom, learn STEM concepts, and learn how to integrate STEM concepts and activities into instruction. Teachers will participate in hands-on activities and be able to kick off the school year in the fall by taking back these lessons for immediate use in the classroom.
Activities will include:
- Foundations of STEM
- Energy/Power Save Program (formerly Green Schools Program)
- Incorporation of the arts (STEAM)
- SMART board computer technology and powerful online resources explored.
