The County College of Morris will host the eighth annual storytelling event, “Story to the Core: Speaking, Listening and Critical Thinking” on Sunday, March 9, featuring Julie Della Torre as the lead storyteller. This year’s program will focus on the Common Core State Standards.
Participants will experience a storytelling session using the listening and speaking skills needed for communication. A story will be told by a storyteller who will facilitate a follow-up discussion. Techniques for keeping conversation flowing will be presented. Storytelling is a motivating technique for developing the Common Core Standards of speaking and listening, the foundations of literacy.
Critical thinking skills develop with whole class discussion. Follow a real-life classroom discussion as students practice these skills in a collaborative conversation.
