Storytelling Festival of World Music and Poetry
County College of Morris will host the seventh annual Storytelling Festival of World Music and Story on Sunday, March 10, featuring outstanding storytellers and musicians who will bring to life tales and music old and new.
The festival will also feature “In Genius: Teaching Out of the Box,” a two-hour participatory workshop using storytelling, theater games, poetry and improvisation. Participants will learn how to use narrative to motivate students to higher level thinking, supporting core curriculum skills and listening, reading, writing and comprehension. These exercises support presentational skills of voice, gesture, movement as well as writing skills that emphasize metaphor and analogy. The program will be presented by internationally known storyteller, lecturer, author and Parent’s Choice Silver Honoree Gerald Fierst, storyteller.
