Description: High school and middle school educators from across New Jersey are invited to come together for The Writing Program Institute’s Summer College for Teachers, a project of the nationally recognized Rutgers Writing Program June 30-July 2. The Summer College is an opportunity for teachers to share and reflect on their practice in relation to Common Core Standards, while creatively integrating nonfiction into their curriculum. In the first two days, WPI and guest faculty offer a slate of interactive modules drawn from the Rutgers Writing Program Pedagogy. This year we are adding a third day to our program based on teacher feedback. In 2014 we invite previous attendees to join new teacher collaborators for a day of Reflective Practice. Guest presentations will be followed by clinics and roundtables where teachers co-envision the inspired application of real work learning.
We are growing a network of passionate, supportive educators building bridges across disciplines and geographies, high schools and universities. We cordially invite you to join us this summer for our expanded retreat!
