The cool, crisp autumn weather was the perfect backdrop for Bergen County Education Association’s (BCEA) first fall family picnic at Campgaw Mountain Reservation and County Park in Mahwah on Sunday, October 21.

Over 300 BCEA members and their families joined together for a beautiful day of music, games, food and fun.  Attendees were entertained by two separate bands as well as their very own BCEA President Sue McBride, who jumped on stage and belted out a few songs.  (Who knew she was in a band before she became a teacher?)

The children in attendance enjoyed decorating pumpkins, face painting, balloon animals, and games, while traditional picnic fare, from hamburgers and hot dogs to corn and potato salad, was served.

BCEA members also welcomed many other invited guests, including NJEA President Marie Blistan, NJEA Secretary-Treasurer Steve Beatty, Sen. Robert Menendez, Congressman Josh Gottheimer, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco, N.J. Legislators Chris Tully, Lisa Swain and Joe Lagana and many Bergen County Freeholders, including Tracy Silna Zur.
