Situated between the Passaic and Hackensack Rivers, and extending from Newark Bay to what is present day Rutherford, sits the town of Harrison. Very much a busy and friendly town with long-time residents, many of whom send their children to the same schools that they themselves attended as students. It was never a question of when the Harrison Education Association (HEA) would support their Hometown Heroes, but how.
After careful consideration, the HEA decided to design and purchase t-shirts for all members of the Harrison Police Department, the Harrison Fire Department, the Harrison postal workers, including Robert French, a lifelong Harrison resident who works at the East Rutherford Post Office, in addition to the school staff working at the middle school making and distributing the daily grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches for students. The HEA also treated EVERY shift of the municipal departments to catered lunches and dinners every day the week of May 4 – 8, making sure they, too, knew how much they were appreciated in this new normal.
