Laura Kirkwood is an instructional assistant in the Reading Center at Brookdale Community College. She works with students who need assistance with basic skills reading comprehension and study strategies. Many of her students are adults returning to college or the first in their families to go to college. Others have special needs. She teaches them strategies for navigating college successfully. Many of her former students now work at the Center. She serves as their supervisor. Laura feels the best part about her job is seeing her students achieve their dreams of obtaining college degrees. Many go on to four-year degrees and amazing careers.
