Looking for a fresh activity to celebrate National Reading Month this March? We can help! To continue its mission to create a nation of diverse readers, NJEA has partnered with Share the Magic Foundation, founded by Malcolm Mitchell, former New England Patriot football player—and Super Bowl Champion! Recognizing that books were an avenue to expand curiosity, creativity and learning, Malcolm launched his initiative, as well as authored and published two children’s books.
Through its Read with Malcolm literacy initiatives, Share the Magic Foundation aims to spread his joy of reading to children throughout the country, and NJEA wants its members to be part of the action. Beginning Monday, March 1, NJEA members can register for their opportunity to get a free copy of Malcolm’s book, “The Magician’s Hat”, along with additional free educator assets. This educator bundle contains a complete teacher’s guide and other resources to make the most of this special story. Supplies are limited, so don’t delay!
But the celebration doesn’t stop there. On Wednesday, March 31, NJEA will host a 30-minute, live Q & A with Malcolm himself. Join us for this free, members-only virtual event and learn more about this fantastic book and Malcolm’s journey to promote childhood literacy. Participants will also have the opportunity to win a Read Across-NJ swag bag and hear about upcoming summer reading events available for educators and students. Registration is required, so check back for the link to sign up.
So, this March, spread the word about the joys of reading! In the meantime, be on the lookout for more ways to make a little reading magic this year.
