Contract Negotiation and Enforcement
NJEA’s 21 regional offices, housing NJEA’s UniServ staff, work directly with local associations to negotiate contracts, process grievances, handle member concerns, and provide a link to all NJEA and NEA services.
Organizing, Training, & Membership Development
NJEA’s Headquarters UniServ staff provide membership materials, Summer and Winter Leadership training, program conferences, Fall Focus meetings, new member orientation programs, and oversee the ESP Career Ladder program.
NJEA’s Communications Division conducts media and public relations, while publishing the NJEA Review, the NJREA Newsletter, the NJEA website (njea.org) and other electronic publications.
Legislative and Government Relations
NJEA’s Government Relations Division lobbies the Legislature on issues impacting public education, works with NJEA’s Political Action Committee to support pro-education candidates (funded by voluntary contributions from members), and runs NJEA’s annual Legislative Conference.
NJEA attorneys provide direct representation to local associations and members, in support of contract enforcement and employment-related issues.
Research and Economic Services
NJEA’s Research Division provides state-of-the-art research in support of contract negotiation and other NJEA programs as well as works with individual members on their pension and benefits needs.
NJEA Member Benefits enriches the lives of members by providing cost-saving consumer programs.
PRIDE in Public Education
NJEA’s PRIDE program pays for paid media (TV, radio, billboards) to promote public education and for organizing grants for local associations.
NJEA’s Professional Development Division provides training and support for members through conferences, local workshops, and other means to further their growth as professionals.
Covers the cost of the annual NJEA Convention and NJEA’s participation in the NEA Representative Assembly.
Funds programs like the Center for Teaching and Learning, Urban Teacher Institute, NJ Hall of Fame, and the Latino Institute.
Local Assistance Programs
These programs provide financial reimbursements and assistance to local and county associations to help serve their members.
Administration and Business Services
Covers NJEA Administration, Membership Processing, Finance, Information Technology, Personnel, Accounting, Mailing and Production, Headquarters operation, and capital budget.
Includes NJEA Officers, Executive Committee, Delegate Assembly, Committees, elections, and organizational activities.
