The NJEA Minority Leadership and Recruitment (MLR) Committee’s focus in the past few months has been all in for Sean Spiller. Led by the MLR Chair Dr. Tiffanie ThrBak, the committee has made a commitment to Stand With Spiller.
“We believe it is important to stand with NJEA’s first Black male president,” Dr. ThrBak said. “Our efforts are to get him through the primary so that we have a unique opportunity to have a fellow educator as governor—one who understands the issues we face are not just educator issues but PEOPLE issues.
“We can’t go backward, it’s time to move forward,” Dr. ThrBak concluded.
ThrBak has more than 30 years of experience as an educator in Bridgeton, Cumberland County.
“I was incentivised to go into education for free health care and a decent pension,” ThrBak said. “Where are we now?”
Dr. ThrBak noted how moved her husband, a military veteran, was at a Sean Spiller Meet and Greet this past summer.
“After speaking with my husband, Sean discussed concerns and ideas on how to ensure that the New Jersey National Guard has the resources and equipment to support our state and region in times of need.”
This demonstrated that Sean Spiller’s campaign extends far beyond the field of education, Dr. ThrBak pointed out.
“NJEA President Sean Spiller is not just a gubernatorial candidate for educators,” Dr. ThrBak said. “He has a plan to serve all people, including veterans, to ensure they have the support and benefits they deserve for their military service. At the end of the day, we are all people who need representation—the best representative for the job of governor is one who represents all.”
