Justine Giovanetti and her fourth grade class at McKeown Elementary School in Newton were among the finalists in the NJEA’s first annual “Nicky Fifth Read Across America – NJ” essay contest.

Giovanetti and her students received a class set of the Nicky Fifth series, sent by author Lisa Willever personally. Other contest finalists were Leigh Ann Peter (Tabernacle Elementary School), Deanna Nicosia-Jones (Elizabeth F. Moore School), Donna Chirchella (Roosevelt School #10), Yulieth Le (Lawrenceville School), and Hollisha Bridgers and Kate McNish (both from Dr. Joyanne D. Miller School).

Kim Pagano and her students, of Belleville School #5, won the grand prize and will be embarking on their own Nicky Fifth adventure before the end of the school year.
