NJEA PAC enters state Assembly races with early endorsements for 2025

The New Jersey Education Association’s 125-member political action committee (NJEA PAC) has voted to support ten candidates for the New Jersey state Assembly for the 2025 primary election on June 10.

In the first of what will be several rounds of endorsements, the NJEA PAC has endorsed the following pro-public education, pro-labor candidates due to their support for issues that are important to NJEA members. On May 6, NJEA PAC endorsed the following:

LD 16: Assemblywoman Mitchelle Drulis (D) and Assemblyman Roy Freiman (D)

LD 27: Assemblywoman Rosaura Bagolie (D) and Assemblywoman Alixon Collazos-Gill (D)

LD 28: Assemblywoman Garnet Hall (D) and Chigozie Onyema (D)

LD 34: Assemblywoman Carmen Morales (D) and Assemblyman Michael Venezia (D)

LD 35: Assemblyman Al Abdel Aziz (D) and Orlando Cruz (D)

Currently there are 200 candidates running for 80 state assembly seats. Each candidate was sent a questionnaire which provides them the opportunity to share their views on issues that are critical for NJEA and NJREA members. Screening committees in each county are comprised of NJEA members who will meet and interview these candidates before they make a recommendation to the full NJEA PAC Operating Committee.

The endorsements listed above will also carry through to the general election in November if the candidate wins the primary. As more counties conclude their screenings over the next few months, there will be more endorsements from NJEA PAC.
