Workshop for Teachers

Learn how to prepare your students for the New Jersey State Bar Foundation’s 2019-20 Courtroom Artist Contest at a workshop Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. The workshop runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be served.

This half-day conference will include an overview of the high school art students’ contest held in conjunction with the Vincent J. Apruzzese High School Mock Trial Competition. Nationally heralded courtroom artists and authors will discuss the history of courtroom art and its use by the media.

Topics to be covered:

  • History of the Mock Trial program.
  • The 2019-20 Vincent J. Apruzzese High School Mock Trial case facts.
  • Rules for the Courtroom Artist Contest.
  • Tips on materials, composition, drawing and rendering of sketches.
  • Guidelines for presenting successful courtroom drawings.

Teachers attending the entire workshop will receive three professional development hours.
