Dr. Maryann Woods-Murphy, the 2010 NJ Teacher of the Year and a gifted and talented specialist in Nutley, has been honored by the YWCA Bergen County with a 2018 Racial Justice Award.

Murphy has been teaching for 38 years. In addition to being named Teacher of the Year, Murphy is the winner of the Martin Luther King Birthday Celebration Award, a 2011-12 Washington Teaching Ambassador Fellowship, a 2011-15 America Achieves Fellowship, and is a member of the board of directors of the National Education Association Foundation and the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
