Parkway Elementary School in Ewing Township invited special guest NJEA Vice President Steve Beatty to participate in their Winter Concert on Dec 12. Beatty joined the ensemble and accompanied the choir for two songs on guitar. Choral Director Laura Hall-Carney met Beatty at an NJEA function where the Beatty expressed his support for the performing arts in New Jersey’s public schools.
“A solid foundation in the arts is essential to students’ education and well-being,” Beatty said. “Learning music builds core skills connected to history, mathematics and language patterns, as well as supporting interpersonal connections while performing with a group. Having played music my whole life, I see how it has afforded me insight in so many profound ways. I want to ensure every student in every school has the opportunity to find their joy from a dedicated music educator!”
