Ellen Fishter, Greer Lapinson and Kristin Szelingowski of Livingston Public Schools in Essex County were awarded a $3,000 grant to purchase ChompSaws, for a STEAM project in Livingston. Fourth- and fifth-grade students will create arcade games out of cardboard and other recycled materials inspired by “Caine’s Arcade,” a story that emphasizes creativity, hard work, perseverance, community, and kindness. This STEAM project will reinforce group planning, teamwork, and the design loop while students create their cardboard arcade games. Younger students will have the opportunity to play the games and learn more about how they were constructed.
