Children’s Literacy Part of Our School Culture

Heather Haggerty-Woolslayer of Egg Harbor City Schools in Atlantic County was awarded a $7,565 grant to establish an ongoing literacy-based program for PreK through third-grade students. The goal is to build on the school library program and help our students fall in love with reading. A new Book Vending Machine will allow students to earn free books of their choice for both their academic and behavioral success and growth. A Story Walk will be introduced to the school playground for all students to participate in daily. To continue the climate of reading and literacy the entire student body will actively participate in monthly School-Wide Reading times together.
