Event Description
This professional development workshop equips educators with the knowledge, tools, and resources to teach about Africa’s rich and diverse histories, cultures, and geographies. Participants will explore ancient civilizations, leadership, innovation, trade, and the roots of the African Diaspora through the lens of historical figures such as King Tutankhamun and Mansa Musa. Educators will engage with primary sources, maps, read-alouds, multimedia, and student-centered activities designed to challenge stereotypes and expand classroom instruction beyond Egypt. Interactive sessions will include rotating centers, lesson planning resources, and aligned materials that support the Amistad and Diversity & Inclusion Mandates as well as the NJSLS.
