NJEA member, staff recognized as millennials to watch

Insider NJ named one NJEA member and two NJEA staff members on their Insider NJ Power 100: Millennials edition, a list which details the work of young people who’ve made a difference in New Jersey.

Zellie Imani Thomas, NJEA member and member of the Paterson Education Association, was recognized as one of the state’s most influential young organizers for Black Lives Matter, as well as a leader on social justice issues.

Gabriel Tanglao, Associate Director of Professional Development and Instructional Issues, and Jerrell Blakely, Associate Director of Government Relations, were both recognized for their work in advancing the mission of public education. Blakely was also further acknowledged for his contributions to Trenton’s public schools as a member of the Trenton Town Council.

Together, the three advocates’ recognition exemplifies the work they have been doing to serve the students — all in their unique ways — of New Jersey’s public schools.
