Seton Hall University welcomes area students to basketball game

Close to four hundred students and staff from area schools attended the NJEA-sponsored Seton Hall  Women’s Basketball game  on Dec. 9, during Seton Hall University’s annual Kids’ Day. Student-athletes from other women’s sports programs were also in attendance and greeted students before the game. The annual Kids’ Day is held to motivate students, encourage post-secondary education and empower oneself through sports. The SHU Pirates went on to win the game against Rider University, with a score of 78-40.

“We had a wonderful time at the game,” said Dan Farinola, North Arlington Education Association president and teacher in the physical education department.  “Everyone we interacted with from the staff, student-athletes, the pirate mascot, to the concession stand workers was so accommodating and patient with my class.  My kids had the best time and were talking about how much fun they had the whole ride home. Every student-athlete that came over was so nice and interacted so well with my class and the game was great – especially with the win!”

If you are interested in bringing students on a field trip to a future Kids’ Day with either Seton Hall or Rutgers, please contact Meredith Barnes, NJEA Communications, at mbarnes@njea.org.
